The same design bureau as the iPad and iPhone app, on Android phones and tablets: the TriStar catalog, a full design editor, the Engineering Review, Battle Value and cost, technical readouts, printable record sheets, the Field Sheet for play, tables of organization with a lift sheet, and the NAV-OPS starchart. Installing
MekFab for Android comes straight from this site, not from an app store, so Android asks you to allow the install.
- Tap the download button above on your Android device.
- Open the downloaded file. Android will say it blocks installs from this source: tap Settings, allow it for your browser or file manager, and go back.
- Tap Install. If Play Protect asks, choose to install anyway; MekFab asks for no permissions at all.
- To update later, download the new version here and open it. Your sorties, TO&Es and added files are kept.
To check the download before installing, compare its SHA-256 with the one above. Every release is signed with the same key, shown as "Signed by".
What is in it, and how to add more
MekFab ships with the TriStar catalog only. It opens any unit file in MegaMek's formats, .mtf for 'Meks and .blk for everything else, so you can add as many as you like.
- Get the files. In MegaMek or MegaMekLab on a computer they are in
data/mekfiles, sorted by kind. The MegaMek project also publishes them at github.com/MegaMek/mm-data: use Code, then Download ZIP; the files are underdata/mekfiles. - Put them on the device any way you move files: a download, USB, or a cloud folder. You can leave them zipped.
- In MekFab, tap Add unit files at the top of the catalog and pick one file, several, or a zip. MekFab copies them into its own storage and marks them ADDED.
'Meks, combat vehicles and aerospace fighters get the full treatment. Other unit types are listed but MekFab does not compute their numbers yet. The same page is in the app under How? beside the Add button.
What is in this version
Everything in the iPad and iPhone app except the TV presenter: design editing for 'Meks and combat vehicles with undo and save, record sheets and TO&E documents as PDF to share, save or print, drag and drop on the organization chart, and Deploy as sortie. A TriStar design you have changed can be put back with Restore the TriStar original.
